[attr="class","dropfrumbodytxt"]PERSONALITY More than likely...you don't like Ymir. And she doesn't like you. And, that's okay.
Gruff & sour tempered - There's no mistaking that Ymir is pretty...bad tempered. Perhaps even grumpy at times due to her somewhat pessimistic attitude or complaints that escape her mouth. Happy go lucky bears might just get a blank stare and told to go 'buzz off'. Possibly in a more foul language. Ah-! But not all the time! Really, Ymir...once one gets to know her, she's much more cooperative, less grumpy. Though, something to watch out for is her temper. Ymir has an explosive temper, and her naturally rough ways can make her say or do things she really doesn't mean to do. She's...actually a pretty emotional bear, even if it doesn't seem like it.
'One of the guys' - No, Ymir is not, by any means, lady-like. In fact, you're likely to get a glower if you call her 'beautiful' to even just 'pretty'. Nah, Ymir likes her ego being stroked. You wanna flirt with her? Beat her in a bout of wrestling - call her 'muscular' and 'tough'. Ymir is a very tomboyish like figure - as possibly seen by how her fur typically is ruffled and all over the place, leaves sticking to it. When asked to clean it, typically by Yona, she only groans and complains. Yes, Ymir would much rather be roughhousing around than strutting her stuff and grooming her fur. Aside from her tomboyish attitude, just because she's a grump doesn't mean she can't be friendly. Sure, she may complain and act like its forced, but...in reality, Ymir does enjoy company. Some just mistake her crude humor, sometimes rambunctious attitude, and bad-temper as someone to just be 'avoided'.
Aggressive - Ymir is, undoubtedly, rough and aggressive. Someone has a problem with her? Well, they cancash her ousside fight her then. They don't like what she said to them? Good for them. Her response to most things is 'act now, consequences later.' She's rather infamous in the clan for her rough attitude and often rude, snarky remarks. Funnily enough, more often than not, Ymir doesn't mean to be rude or blunt...She just doesn't understand how to read others emotions very well. She's quite...oblivious. And honestly, the same could go to her. Ymir has trouble realizing her own emotions...and so, her first response is to respond to most things with her rough temperament or sarcastic words.
Cautious - In short and simple, Ymir doesn't trust easily. Even when she seems to be relax and perhaps even friendlier to an individual, should they ask her if they've gained her trust...she's likely to stare at them blankly. It's a bit bad that she doesn't exactly trust her clan-mates - its something she wish she could do but...the fear of them betraying her - the fear that they actually do hate her is too great. A surprise, isn't it? That the bear really does care what others think of her.
Old habits die hard - Ymir was not raised within the dynasty - nor even within the dynasties territory. Customs, habits, things cubs grew up with...she lacked. Even something as simple as knowing and fully believing that 'you and the dynasty are one' is still foreign to her. Perhaps Ymir still doesn't feel as though she's really one within her dynasty? Either way, her more rougher habits to sometimes taking things the wrong way definitely come from her different upbringing. Her hesitance to rely on others - her sometimes selfish or aggressive mindset. Her eating habits may be viewed as 'greedy' or 'messy' to some - but she can't help it. Her crudeness and willingness to show others that she's strong...Yes, old habits die hard indeed.
But still pretty darn trustworthy - Yes, Ymir can be a horrible person- er, bear. Yes, she can be the bane of your day. And yes, there are times where you just want to push her off of the side of a cliff. But if there's one thing to know, it's that Ymir will always be there when it counts. She's the one who'd be by your side when surrounded by a group of Fengari - the one who' accompany you on some wild adventure if just to ensure you don't kill yourself {or to tell the rest of the clan that you did indeed die}. Yes, she can be selfish - perhaps too obsessed with power at times or just downright mean spirited...But there's no denying that Ymir does care for her clanmates through and through - that she's a loyal hearted individual. Even if she denies it herself.
APPEARANCE The one word used to describe Ymir? Big. Granted, yes, polar bears are already big to begin with, but Ymir is big - even for a female polar bear. Her frame is heavy, well muscled, with broad shoulders and massive paws. She weighs more than the typical female - just slightly over 650 lbs and slightly over 4.4 ft in height {at the shoulder}. Her fur, like most of her species, is white in color. Her eyes are then dark golden. Quite a few scars litter over her body, some scarring over her muzzle as well - her left ear having a deep nick into it. Similar to her father, Kono, she bears a scar over her left eye down to her cheek.
HISTORY Ymir is one of those...oddities within the dynasty when it comes to her history. Ymir was born outside of the dynasty - outside the territories, in the north and near the Arkouda Dynasty. Life...was almost unbearable there. Poor food, poor sources of water, threats everywhere...It was miserable. And her father, Kono, knew of something other than these desolate, hellish lands - he knew what it was like to be on Dynasty territory. He was an exile from the Arkouda Dynasty, after all. His crime? Murder. His exile was a touchy subject - and he was reminded of it everyday with the horrible scar that marred his face. A former excellent warrior with so much potential, so much high hopes for his dynasty, so much ambition - but it took a turn for the worse and went downhill from there. The name that used to give a sense of warmth now only created dread and hate - Kono the Cruel or Kono the Twisted - that was the name his former family knew him by.
Ymir was always interested in the Dynasty of Bears - even if her questions were met with a growled silence. Her cubhood wasn't like most - there was little time to play, little time to be worry free. She was the eldest cub - the strongest. Her young brother was a sickly, scrawny little thing. While he played around, she was out with her father, scouting for food, for water. "Chin up, claws out, teeth bared. Look like a threat, and nothin' will get in your way." Her father would instruct the wide eyed cub. From a young age, she has 'lost' that wanderlust and innocence cubs held within their eyes - she was forced to. There were too many creatures who'd find a bright-eyed cub a wonderful snack.
As she grew up into a pre-teen, Ymir became more and more inspired to be like her father - who she looked up to greatly. She cared naught of his past - she saw him as a strong bear, one who was intent on the survival of his family. Ymir, however, was tired of living in this wasteland. She would grow more curious of the Arkouda Dynasty, whose borders to prey filled lands were so...close. Her father warned her, threatened her, told her to forget about it. But nothing would quench the she-bears curiosity, and so, one day, she trailed closer. Upon trespassing, she felt herself being watched - and with a sharp, feral quickness, turned, launching herself on her stalker....Only to see a much smaller black bear pinned beneath her, not scared but amazed at how big Ymir was. "You're...huge! Your paws are nearly the size of my head! Whoa!" Ymir could only stare at the female with such a disgruntled 'wtf' look that the other started to laugh.
This cub was named Yona - a bubbly, clumsy mess of bear cub...And also Ymir's first friend. How exactly the two became friends isn't really...known. They just did. It started with Yona begging for the polar bear to come visit her again in a few days after the two had briefly talked. And at first, Ymir simply saw the small bear as a means to gain the information she sought. Until she began to genuinely like speak to her, to see her smiling face or call her an 'idiot' when the bear cub told her about her daily endeavors.
To Ymir, Yona was her own little light, and she didn't want to let her go just yet - as selfish as it sounded. Around Yona, she didn't have to be some vicious wild child, she could relax, she could smile. Yona showed her things she never had the time to learn - games, stories, everything of the like. She'd speak of spirits in the skies - gods. That was something Ymir never really took an interest in, but was fascinated in how powerful these supposed gods wee. Could she ever be that strong? If so...then she and her family would never have to struggle for a meal again. Speaking of which, Ymir...never really told Yona who her family was. She occasionally spoke of her younger brother and mother...but that was it. She was...afraid. Afraid that if she found out who her father was, she'd fear her -hate her.
However, it would become apparent to the black bear anyway one morning. Ymir was going to visit Yona, as usual, however, the sound of voices and growls met her ears, alarming her - it was Yona's. Upon stumbling near their usual clearing, she saw a male bear cub - much larger than Yona, wrestling around with her. Automatically, Ymir struck. She easily wrangled the male to the ground, her paws on his chest, claws digging in and her jaws around his throat. Fury burned in her - the desire to hurt him roaring in her ears. Until the blurred cries of Yona became present, and a small body shoved her away. "Ymir, what's wrong with you?! We were only playing! Why do you have to always be so....so...!" Yona sounded horrified, and Ymir was unsure what to do - what to say. She was scared - not that she had hurt another, but she was scared that she had driven away her precious friend.
Yona, seeing the fear and hurt in her friends eyes, instantly began to regret her words. The baffled, injured male cub had ran off in sheer fear - crying loudly. "Ymir - wait, I-I...I didn't-!" She was gone - Ymir had fled the scene. However - the two friend's friendship was far from being over. Whether they wanted to admit it or not...they were connected - they shared a bond. Which was why Ymir couldn't stop thinking of her black bear friend - she longed to see her smile and hear her laugh, to feel her curl up by her side as they dozed in the sun...She needed to see her again.
And so, she found herself heading to their usual meeting spot after a week, waiting, perhaps even praying {something Yona had taught her about}. Surely enough, a black head popped through the bushes, and a tiny black shape came barreling into her side. "Ymir! Oh thank the goddess', I thought you'd never come back, I waited, and waited a-and-!" Before she knew it, the black bear was in tears. Ymir, of course, only scoffed and frantically tried to get her friend to calm down {she was never one for dealing with that whole 'crying' nonsense}, but...she was happy. Happy that Yona cared so much.
It was on that day that Ymir explained exactly who she was to Yona - the daughter of the 'feared' Kono. At first, Yona simply....stared. Before declaring that she 'didn't care'. And that was that. While Ymir wished the bear would've taken it a little more seriously she...was happy. Happy that something as simple as heritage wouldn't ruin their friendship. She may have been the daughter of Kono - she may have looked up to him but...she would never turn out like him...Or so, she hoped. It was on that day that Ymir and Yona made a promise - a promise to friendship - a promise that nothing would change between them...ever. Ymir thought it was stupid - who could tell the future? But, then again, when could she ever say no to the black bear called Yona?
Kono himself would notice the disappearance of the cub more and more. And upon following her one day, he was disgusted. She had made friends with a bear from inside that wretched dynasty...But, perhaps it could have its uses at a latter date. And so, he let the unlikely friends be. For now, that is. And so, he played the fool.
Yona and Ymir grew closer - inseparable almost as the pre-teens grew into their late teens. She had even introduced her to her fragile, sickly younger brother, who became enamored with the black bear {much to Ymir's disgust}. There had been several close calls where Ymir had nearly been found out. Periods of time where they'd stop seeing each other. But, their bond was something that couldn't simply just 'break'. Or...so they thought.
Things were...changing. And for the worst. For the small family of polar bears, the life they lived was...tragic. Food was becoming even scarcer after a recent blizzard. Their home had been buried under a recent avalanche and frozen over...They were miserable. A new litter of cubs - two - died within their first few days of life - her mothers lack of milk and the coldness...the two scraps barely stood a chance. The final straw - the breaking point though...was the death of Ymir's younger brother. She had tried - they all had. But...he had been too weak. Too hungry. When she and he father returned from hunting with only a single seal to spare...They returned to her mother, curled up around the form of he brother. Ymir had only begged once in her life - and that was for her brother to eat. She pleaded, she begged. She wanted to see that dumb smile of his...but nothing. His eyes were dull. He was dead.
And it was also the day her father snapped. He had enough of this suffering. Enough of having to survive with everything pitted against him. He would take territory from the dynasties - he'd make it his own land. A land for those that the dynasties would not take.
What started as a pure idea - an idea Ymir supported fully along with several other loner bears quickly became a deranged idea. Kono...was at his wits end. The guilt and anger he had from his dynasty days, the suffering of his family, seeing his son die - his cubs...He was done. He would take this land...and he would become its new king. Ymir knew her father had changed - she knew something was different the day a patrolling bear saw them. Accused them of trespassing. When he pinned the beaten bear beneath him...she thought he'd let them go, as always. To tell their king that this border was theirs now. She was wrong.
But yet...she felt only numbness when she saw Kono bite down onto the bear's throat. She felt nothing. Not as the bear struggled. Not as they grew silent. And not as the blood lapped at her paws. It seemed Ymir too was blinded by her family's misfortune - she was making her father's hatred into her own. He fed her lies - lies that the dynasty wasn't 'pure' at all. That they'd let them all die without a care in the world.
Yona noted how different Ymir acted. While she was still friendly to the black bear, the previous enthusiasm and wonder she had for the dynasty and hearing about their ongoings was gone. She'd notice the polar bear sometimes glaring into the distance...However, Yona trusted Ymir. She didn't know what type of bear she was becoming. She didn't know of the blood that stained her friend's paws. She didn't know that when Ymir asked her about her territory - her dynasty life...that her friend was using her, drawing out information. But...she did find out.
Ymir had sneaked into Arkoudan territory one night at her fathers urging to go scout - the words of Yona describing the territory inside her head. She scratched the trees near the border - as though trying to push it back farther, claim land little by little. The female bear was attacked on sight by a late night hunter - being identified as one of the several rogues who were causing havoc. Ymir gave no mercy. She tore the bear to bits. This...was not the first time she had killed. And once again, she felt nothing. Nothing but satisfaction. Her father would proud, her mother would be safe - one less enemy. Her ears would twitch as a soft "Ymir?" Would catch them. Dark, clouded eyes whirled around, and she struck. The bear was small - an easy kill. The only words that ran through her mind were angry curses. That was until she saw big eyes gazing up at her in sheer fear. It was Yona.
She became aware of blood trickling over her claws - Yona's blood. Horrified, the female bear backed off. "Y-Yona...I-I...Haha, you scared me! I thought you were an enemy or somethin'!" Ymir laughed, as cheerful as could be. Yet Yona stared at her with wide eyes - horrified eyes. "Yona? What's wrong?" The bear reached out a paw, however, her paw was met with a light blow - it was from Yona. "W-why would you...? Y-Ymir...you killed them-! You...You murdered them!" Ymir seemed confused. She tried to insist toher friend that it was 'necessary' - the fact that she was so calm, so casual about it frightened the black bear even more. "Oh, don't be scared though! You're with me y'know! I'd never hurt ya - y-you're safe...safe from..." She tried to soothe her friend, to move closer, however...Yona only whispered not to come any closer.
The black bear screamed at her - called her a murderer....that she couldn't believe what she was doing. That she needed to stop. She made it seem like Ymir was the monster - as though she was nothing more than a killer. That she was just like her father. Ymir could feel her heart breaking into two. She was confused - hurt. She became aware of Yona swatting her claws at her, trying to drive her away - telling her to not come back. That she wasn't welcome her. Ymir tried to explain - tried to tell her that her brother had died - siblings that she would never get to know - dead. Her mother? Dying...She tried to explain that she was only trying to survive.
But it was just like her father had said...They were all the same.
It was on this very day that a bond had been broken.
However, she was unaware though...Unaware of the bear that watched this all unfold. The deranged smile upon his lips as he muttered to himself - the plan had worked.
Losing one of her few friends, Ymir was...broken. Depressed. Sad. But angry - hate filled. And Kono preyed upon that. In simple...Like father, like daughter. She became the one thing she feared before in the past - a monster. To this day, Ymir can't remember how many lives she took - from all dynasties. Whomever got in her way - they were considered dead to her. And Ymir herself became deluged in some fantasy that she could make Yona see that she wasn't some...some monster - that nothing had changed. That she was still Ymir. Ymir would stalk the borders, go to their usual waiting place and wait...and wait...But Yona never came. Not once.
And that was what hurt the most.
Falling deeper into her anger and growing loneliness, she blindly followed after her father. The final straw for Ymir was her mothers sudden death. 'Sudden' was...an understatement. Ymir's mother was murdered. The group suspected it was by the Arkoudan Dynasty, based on what was found. But...in actuality, it was by her own mate - Kono. Kono...was far past the state of being 'well' in the mind. Hungry for power and revenge, he had revealed his grand, bloody plan of forcing the bear dynasty into giving them a part of their territory if they raided their camp during a coming blizzard and with 'inside' help - traitors. If he killed the king - if he held their beloved monarch by the throat, they would have to listen to him. In the past, he had failed...but not again. Not now. And his mate disagreed. To the point where she was going to go and tell the Dynasty themselves. "This bloodshed...I'm tired of it. I'd rather live in this wretched place for eternity than see all those who'll get killed in this foolishness."
Kono..didn't want to kill her. He loved her - he did. But...he couldn't let go. And those who got in his way deserved to be eliminated. He blamed her death upon the Dynasty, fueling the large group of rogue bears - some exiles like he, others those were tired of hellish lands and others who were intimidating to joining into this coalition of insanity. Ymir was all for this 'final strike'...until she noticed something. The wounds on her mothers body looked...familiar. And seeing the slightest tuft of fur between her mother's claws - it was her fathers. She tried to put the two together, tried to make sense of it.
But all she found was disgust. Disgust at herself...disgust at her father..What they were going to do - it was wrong. Inhumane. It needed to be stopped.
Slipping out of their makeshift camp at night, she approached the Arkoudan Dynasty territory. She was immediately found by a hunting patrol and nearly killed on sight...but it was a soft voice that spoke up. A voice she hadn't heard in so long - it sounded like a melody to her ears. It was Yona. The bear refused to look at her...but she told them to give the polar bear a speaking chance. And so Ymir spilled everything. She was eventually allowed into camp to speak to the king himself and tell him of their plans.
Her father's insanity was met with a patrol of warriors. His plan had been foiled...but the bear was determined. Determined for revenge. For bloodshed. "You took everything from me! My children, my home, my wife - Now, I will take what is rightfully mine!" He was so far gone, so crazy, that he had even believed in his own lie - that they had killed Ymir's mother. He lunged...and surprisingly enough, it was Ymir that met his lunge. Surprise and disgust that his daughter was among them, the two fought whilst others around them clashed. "If you think they'll forgive you for what you've done...that they'll accept you into your ranks - you're wrong!" The bear snarled as he was pinned down by his daughter. "Especially not when they see naught of you - but-!" With a roar of pain, Ymir felt his claws having struck her face. He had scarred her in a manner similar to his own. She really was the splitting image of him.
"She's nothing like you!" The small, quivering voice of Yona yelled out. Why...why was she here?Ymir, badly injured, could barely stand as her and her father looked up to the black bear standing before them, puffed up and snarling. "You...you're the one who tainted my daughter's mind...I will kill you!" Her father reared, preparing to strike...only to be taken down by the throat by Ymir. She hadn't the energy to beat him...but she'd be damned if she let him harm Yona. It was only through the help of the other warriors was her father finally defeated...finally lain to rest. However, to this day, Ymir still remembers it. The stare her dying father gave her, the whispered, gasping words that left his maw. "Just...like me..."
And he was right.
As she lay, bloody, but victorious, she became aware of the chaos before her. How many bears had been injured? Had died? How many more would have had she not chosen to tell the clan? The thought haunted her, of the blood that was on her paws...and how much more of it would've been had she not snapped out of her violent state. Something her father had been unable to do.
When a sudden black furred blur nestled into her side, crying at how injured her friend was, Ymir felt...happy. No longer was Yona looking at her with such...fear. She wasn't looking at her the way everyone looked at her father. "Shuddap, I'm fine." She grumbled out. Their sweet, reunited moment was short lived when she saw the looming bodies of the Arkouda warriors. Right...she had nearly forgotten. Whether or not she had battled with them today, she was not one of them. Her father was right in the aspect that they would not see her as one of them. To them...she was the final, last enemy. That didn't stop her from baring her fangs though. "I don't care what you do to me...You lay a paw on Yona though...and I swear..." If they tried to find Yona 'guilty by association' she'd fight them off with whatever strength she had left.
It was Yona though. Yona who stood up for her. Who convinced the warriors to not chase her off or kill her then. To bring her back to camp - to be treated by the Shaman, and to speak to the king. By Yona's good heart and the king's good graces...Ymir was allowed to join the Arkouda Dynasty. A way to work off her sins - to atone. But to also finally get the life she deserved. To this current day, many see Ymir as much of a clanmate as any other - while others...other see the female in a less favorable light. Ymir....knows she cannot change the wrongs she commented - the blood that stains her paws But she won't turn away. She won't live in her father's shadow - not anymore.

> Ymir is norse for 'a mythical giant'.
> Despite her typical 'I'm a tough bear' display, cubs to even some cute things often get the typicaltsundere grumpy bear to go big eyed - even if she doesn't necessarily even like cubs {or so she says}. > Ymir doesn't enjoy looking into water. She doesn't think of herself as 'pretty' by any means,
which is why compliments of the nature are typically taken into offense. Aside from that, there's also the scar she received, a grim reminder of the mistakes she's made in her past.

OTHER INFO
> Ymir is norse for 'a mythical giant'.
> Despite her typical 'I'm a tough bear' display, cubs to even some cute things often get the typical
> Ymir doesn't enjoy looking into water. She doesn't think of herself as 'pretty' by any means,
which is why compliments of the nature are typically taken into offense. Aside from that, there's also the scar she received, a grim reminder of the mistakes she's made in her past.
> A rather embarrassing secret, but Ymir enjoys flowers - she's quite well educated in them and their names as well. She remarks that seeing flowers where she used to live at was rare, so she always took an interest in them.
