I know that members who have characters in High Rank positions are expected to post once a week, and all members are expected to get on at least every three days (unless they post a hiatus notice), but are there any posting expectations for the average member? Once a month? Once every two weeks? Is there even a requirement? I suppose I should have asked this before joining, but I assumed there were no expectations or limits on posts... So is this true or have I simply overlooked a crucial detail?

There is not a posting minimum for a regular member, however, there is the expectation of a member at least logging on every day to every other day and trying to post at least once every two weeks.
