[attr="class","dropfrumbodytxt"]PERSONALITY Alket is definitely not an aggressive animal. He isn't one to run around, seeking to fight with someone, but if he feels it's needed he'll scuffle with anything if it meant keeping himself alive. His need to constantly protect has caused him to become detached and introverted, and he usually won't go out of his way to interact with things he doesn't know. As if that weren't enough, Alket has a strict way of speaking with others and most conversation with him is blunt and totally honest, but he's quiet for most of the time and doesn't encourage having friends or allies. He doesn't appreciate being told what to do, and often ignores anyone who tries to command him, especially if he doesn't respect them. All in all, Alket is a solitary animal and can only handle a few at a time without imploding on himself.
The bear is rough and certainly acts the same, but first impressions are never good anyway. Alket is an intelligent creature, and is overall just a gentle giant. He learns things fairly quickly and teaches things just as fast, and he knows that his own strength to the point of not using it against animals smaller than him unless necessary. As having friends is unusual for him, those he can stand are immediately family to him and his loyalty is everlasting. However the price of this loyalty also comes with possessive and jealous tendencies if he isn't given the attention he seeks from someone he cares about.
To match with his aloof nature, Alket is calm and he usually doesn't find humor in much, though there are those few times where something might earn a little chuckle or laugh from his mouth. However, he isn't that temperamental and has a high level of tolerance and is quick to forgive most things as long as they are corrected and left alone. No apologies needed, since they make him feel uncomfortable in any situation.
APPEARANCE Alket knows that he isn't one of the more "perfect" looking beasts of his breed. Standing on stocky but sturdy legs and large paws to handle his weight with short and heavily scooped claws. His build is on the more heavier side but he likes to think that he's fit enough to not be classified as 'heavy'. His body is completely covered in dense, white hairs that get longer darker along his forelegs and paws (mostly due to mud and dirt that have permanently dyed them). The extra weight and fur he carries supply him with the insulation he needs to keep himself warm in the coldest of seasons.
Alket has a naturally disinterested facial expression with deep circular brown, almost black, eyes with a dignified gleam in them. His neck is long and thick and above that sits a widened forehead and long muzzle, complete with a darkened area around his equally dark nose. Along with that, Alket has small ears that soften his appearance and even give him a nicer air around him. The polar bear moves with a lumbering but self-assured gait of a beast who knows no fear. His size, along with the sharp teeth hidden under his lips, provide him with all the strength he needs to keep himself alive. His legs, despite their looks, can take him far however Alket is not anything close to nimble and his maneuverability, or lack thereof, can make him look like a bumbling fool if he allowed it.
HISTORY
He was the first born in a litter of two, the largest and most mobile cub of course. However his brother never had the same luck that Alket did, as he was what one would call a “runt” but his personality said otherwise. Tsabo was much more talkative than his brother, that was probably why Alket liked to spend more time on his own rather than trailing behind listening to his brother talk on and on about what he was seeing every step they took. The constant migration of the small family was unnecessary, since they resided away from any threats, but Mother was always peeking over her shoulder and always dragged her cubs with her anytime she wandered. Unstable homes were the norm for Alket and his brother, and their growth never stunted because of it.
Whenever Mother decided it was time to move again, she always made sure to teach small life lessons along the way. The necessary ones like hunting and berrypicking. Alket’s favorite had always been a fan of blackberries and how each berry had a different taste. It was somewhere between bitterness and sweetness, but Tsabo had liked scarfing them down like a beast rather than to savor the taste. Mother never let the two stray too far into the bushes before calling them out to move on again, but Alket somehow always managed to sneak a small branch of them whenever he got the chance to.
When the time came for him to be on his own, Alket was unusually happy about being away from his mother. Not to confused, he loved Mother dearly, but he was growing into an adult and adults needed to experience the world from their own eyes; not their mother’s. Tsabo, not really knowing what to do, chose to stay with Alket for a while, much to Alket’s dismay, but he wasn’t going to chase his sibling off. Not even when Tsabo took it upon himself to talk about the things he wanted to do while they traveled, and Tsabo talked a lot. Alket was never able to get a full, developed sentence from his maw so he opted to just stay quiet.
He never knew how much he’d miss his brother until one day he awoke to find him gone, it was like his brother had never existed. Alket didn’t mourn for his brother, for he knew that he was probably alive and well, so he acted like it didn’t bother him that he was just suddenly on his own now.
He didn’t interact with much much after that, eating whenever he could and sleeping wherever he deemed fit. It was the regular life of being a rogue bear: eat, wander, sleep, repeat. It went on for a little bit before something had completely ripped the cycle apart. Another lone bear, fur as brown as dirt. He remembers watching her face scrunch back into a snarl as he approached, and even with a large fish stuck in her teeth, he knew it was a warning that he was too close but it wasn't like he was going to listen to her anyway. His lack of social interaction with others should be a good explanation as to why he had gotten his tail handed to him by a small, female brown bear.
Her name was Eln, a grizzly who’d lost her mother to the elements and had been living on her own for much longer than he had. She was scrappy and fierce, but still held the grace of a queen. She reminded Alket of his mother, and that was probably the reason why he had pushed a friendship with the bear. They were partners in crime, after she’d gotten used to having the huge bear hanging around of course. He appreciated having the presence of another being next to him even though she seemed to treat him as a nuisance. It was only natural that they fell in love, well on loose terms if we’re being honest.
Alket was not a father, yet he was at the same time. Eln was pregnant, yes, but for some reason disliked the idea of having a male around any cubs she birthed. It wasn’t a subject he touched on, but he respected her wishes like any smart man would do. It was a while before he realized that what he had for Eln was not love, but loneliness masquerading as actual feelings. She had been the first being he’d met in his days of being alone, and the fact that she had been female only added insult to injury.
Alket never thought he would abandon another creature, but sure enough he had drifted away from little Eln and she never raised a paw to follow after him. He chose to call what he had done “life”, simply because he had lived it and it had ended. He chose not to think about what he had left behind, who he had left behind. All he knew was that there were now cubs in the world with his blood pumping through their tiny bodies.
He had now circled back to the beginning of his adult life, now older but still young and inexperienced. He was all by himself again but this time he was going to try and stay that way.

I have no idea if I’m going to make Eln or their cubs adoptable; probably when I feel like it would become important for Alket’s storyline to have them back in his life.
