Vorek is well known for his personality, both the good and the bad sides of it. He speaks with the wisdom of a bear who has seen hardship and learned from his mistakes. Youngsters often seek Vorek out for his advice. He is seen as an equal among the older bears, one to be respected because of his proven loyalty and honor. Vorek shows courage on the battlefield and is not afraid to admit his fears, knowing that it is what you do with those fears that makes you what you are.
Aggressive, Predictable, Religious, Unchanging - Neutral
Being the warrior that he is, Vorek has a predictable personality. He is very aggressive with his words and claws when angered or protecting his dynasty. The bear is steady and unchanging in his ways, which some see as a good trait while others see as a bad one. He is what he is and Vorek sees no reason to change. What is surprising about the giant polar bear is that he is very religious, often seeking guidance and trusting the gods in and with everything he does.
Brutal, Graceless, Moody, Strong-Willed - Negative
Most laughably, Vorek has no grace at all with his giant form. His movements never adjusted to his frame, so he's often found accidentally breaking things or stepping on someone's paw or tail. Even in the water, Vorek struggles to find his bearings to be graceful. In fact, the only place that Vorek's massive body looks like it knows what it's doing, is on the battlefield. He is skilled in battle techniques and brutal with his attacks. Personality wise, Vorek is very strong-willed and stubborn. So much so, that it's caused issues with some of his friendships and relationships. To top it all off, he's also known to be moody, going from a great mood to a sour or angry mood fairly quickly. As he's aged, Vorek doesn't experience these mood changes as often though.
APPEARANCE As polar bears are the largest species of bear, Vorek is massive. He's the typical weight of the other male polar bears weighing in at 1200 pounds. Nothing about Vorek is small. His looks exactly like all other polar bears by having black skin but white fur. His nose is black with his eyes also being such a dark brown that they too appear to be black. This bear is strong with deadly long and sharp claws. Vorek also has many scars over his body with the most noticeable ones being a ragged scar from his cheek to nose as well as a deep series of scars on his left shoulder.
HISTORY
Arkouda has always had a strong presence of polar bears. Fydor used to be a warrior for Arkouda and his mother, Tanya, used to be a hunter. Their love was strong though the two met later in life than was usual for bears. Their only cubs were two males. The larger of the two, they named Vorek, while the smaller was named Vomar. Vorek and Vomar were inseparable and did everything together.
When they were pupils, Vorek knew that he was meant to be a warrior. It was in his blood. While Vomar switched many times before he finally settled on being a shaman. After graduating, the two brothers remained close. When Vorek was a youngster, only four years old, he struck up a friendship with Aleski. She was sweet and kind. Everyone said that the two were perfect for one another. They fell in love and had a good relationship. Though his moodiness and stubborn nature eventually caused problems. Aleski wanted nothing more than to have cubs and Vorek wasn't ready. The two started to argue and fight more and more. Even with the two disagreeing, they still loved each other. Aleski became pregnant but miscarried the cubs. When Vorek tried to comfort Aleski, she blamed him for the miscarriage which caused Vorek to be hurt and the massive bear lashed out. Both being frightened and hurt, Aleski left Vorek completely after that final fight.
Not even a week after the separation, Vorek and the other warriors were called to battle against the Skotadi. Vorek fought bravely though he ended up hurt badly when a large tiger lept onto his back. In an effort to get the tiger off, the bear shook his body which caused the tiger to slip. The tiger dug his claws deeply into his shoulder before falling to the ground. After the battle, while Vorek was recovering, he decided to start believing in the gods. After his life took a new turn into one of trust and belief, Vorek's moodiness and argumentative side slowly started to calm down.
Years later, Vorek hasn't taken another mate for fear of a repetition of history while Aleski has not only found another but also has two cubs who just became old enough to become pupils. As he got calmer and more accepting of things, Vorek realized that more and more bears sought him out. He's had more friends than he'd ever thought possible and he's more respected than he could ever have imagined.
